Baijnath Temple

Baijnath Temple Baijnath Temple is a revered shrine of Himachal Pradesh. Located at a distance of 16 kms from Palampur in the Beas valley, Baijnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the inscriptions on the walls, Baijnath Mandir was built by the two native merchants by the name of Ahuka and Manyuka in 1204 A.D. In the porch of the temple, the two long inscriptions state that before the present temple, there was a shrine of Lord Shiva.

Saurabh Van Vihar

Saurabh Van Vihar was established in order to create awareness regarding the gradually depleting environment. In the course of time, this nature park has become a popular picnic ground for people. Today, boating, birdwatching and bouldering can be enjoyed in the park apart from nature walks on the pebbly bank of the Neugal Khad.

Dorzong Monestry

Dhauladhar Mountain Range, Dorzong Monastic Institute (DMI) is a place for studying and practicing Buddha Dharma. The institute is situated about 20kms from Dharamshala near Gopalpur village. It was established by Eighth Kyabje Dorzong Rinpoche at a scenic place that is covered with cedar forests to preserve the Buddhism and the Drukpa Kagyu community.

Gopalpur Zoo

Gopalpur Zoo in the month of March till June and in the month of September till November. Cotton clothes can be worn during the summer season. However, there is monsoon season in the first week of July to the end of August that needs necessary protections during the visit. There are winters in the month of December till the end of February.

Dal Lake

Dal Lake is a small mid-altitude lake(1,775 meters above sea level) situated at a distance of 11 kilometers away from Dharamshala near the village of Tota Rani on Macleodganj Naddi road in district Kangra Himachal Pradesh.Dal Lake is 2KM walk westwards from MacLeodganj bazaar. Nestling amidst lush green forests of deodar trees, the Dal Lake is famous for its scenic beauty and pilgrimage center.

Kareri Lake

A beautiful and picturesque lake, the Kareri Lake seems like a place which has been picked straight out of a Hollywood movie. Also known as Kumarwah Lake, this is a shallow, freshwater lake that is situated to the south of the Dhauladhar range, about 9 kilometres to the northwest of Dharamshala, in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of 2,934 metres above the sea level.

Triund

Triund is the crown jewel of dharamshala, situated in the laps of dhauladhar mountains, it has the perfect view of the dhauladhar mountains on one side and kangra valley on the other. Triund is a very popular trekking spot. Triund attracts a lot of tourist every year from India and all over the world. Triund trek can be described as a tranquil trek which can be easily accomplished by almost all age groups.

Chamunda Devi Temple

Chamunda Nandikeshwar Temple is in Kangra District, which is about 10 km west to Palampur at the banks of Baner River. Chamunda Devi, a form of Mata Shakti, is the deity in this 16th century temple. Pilgrims can reach to the temple easily from Kangra and Dharamshala in public transport buses as well as by hiring tourist taxis. The temple is a well-known shrine of Hindus and plenty of people come to this place.

Kangra Art Museum

The Kangra Art Museum is a fascinating museum displaying artifacts from Tibetan and Buddhist cultures. Inaugurated in 1990, the museum has preserved a treasure trove from Kangra valley’s cultural past, crafts, arts and other ancient artifacts including miniature paintings, temple carvings, fabrics and embroidery, weapons, and palanquins.

Bhagsu nag Temple

Bhagsu nag Temple is one of the popular ancient temples, which is located at about 3 km east of the main city of McLeodganj and around 11 km from Dharamshala. It is surrounded by the famous Bhagsu Falls and is considered to be a popular place of Hindu pilgrimage.

Mata Kunal Pathri Temple

Kunal Pathri is a little rock temple dedicated to goddess Durga in Dharamshala. Located in the beautiful Dhauladhar Ranges in Kangra district, this ancient temple is surrounded by dense tea gardens and is the perfect place for a long peaceful walk amidst the lush surroundings. The temple displays exquisite carvings of gods and goddesses. It is said that there is a stone in the temple that always remains wet.

Jwalamukhi Temple

Jwalamukhi is one of the most renowned ancient temples of Goddess Durga. It is believed that Sati's tongue fell here and the goddess is manifest as small blue flames that burn through fissures in the old rock. There is no idol is located in the temple and Jwalamukhi, or the deity of flaming mouth, is worshipped in the form of flames coming out of the rock.

Indrunag Temple

Indru Nag is an ancient temple built by local villagers and is dedicated to Snake King. People offer prayers to the Indru Nag and they strongly believe that this God saves them from the natural disasters, especially heavy rains. The temple is located on the hill top and one can get the panoramic view of Dharamshala and Dhauladhar ranges. The Khanyara road from Dharamshala leads to Chohla village.

Aghanjar Mahadev Temple

The Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that once upon a time when Arjuna, one of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, was on his way to the Kailash Mountains, Lord Shiva appeared at this spot and blessed him with the boon of victory over the Kauravas. There are several idols of Lord Shiva and a Lord Hanuman statue.

The Chinmaya Mission was started by Balakrishnan Menon, a young journalist who met spiritual masters like Swami Sivananda and from there began a search for meaning. One of the greatest exponents of Vedanta the world has ever known, the Swami has set up several trusts, schools and meditation centres all over India.

Bajreshwari Devi Temple

The Bajreshwari Devi Temple is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh behind the crowded market of Kangra Town. It is said to be constructed by Goddess Bajreshwari itself at a place where once the famous Ashwamedh or horse-sacrifice took place.
